In his speech president Barack Obama demonstrated that he has not accomplished any of the things he promised eight year ago when he won for president of the United States.
When Obama became president of the United States many people had high expectations of him. They thought that he was going to bring a real change . But instead he continue to expand the Bush agenda. He has not close Guantanamo, he has not done anything to fix the immigration system, he renew the Patriot Act (which violates the civil liberties of all the people living in this country). With his health care reform he has force all people to buy insurance or pay a fee for not having one. His actions are contrary to the ideals that founded this country.
The funny thing is that in his speech he mentioned that he strongly believes in the values of liberty and in a free market system that make the United States a great nation. In this I agree with the comment of governor Gary Johnson who said the following in his twitter account; “Too often, I find myself agreeing with what Obama says. More often, it’s what he does that’s the problem.” Governor Gary Johnson is right in his statement because president Obama words are not the problem, the problem are his actions that go against what he says.
Pope Francis visit to the United States is something that makes me happy because the current issue that concerns the Pope is the family. This is the year the Vatican has dedicated it to the family. The Pope would be talking about the importance of the unity of the family and on the importance of children having both parents.
I believe that the Pope choose to come to this country because we are in family crisis. Most families are separated and children growth up having a stepmother and stepfather, or in other cases parents work all day and they are not at home. This leads to teenagers who growth up feeling lonely and who end up in violent relationships or who end up being teenage mothers.
Not only that but also there are teenage boys who end up in gangs because they feel insecure and they end up killing innocent people, or students who create bombs and kill people in public places. This has been happening a lot and the main issue that I see in here is the family.
If more parents decided to stay together as family and support their children by being more involved with them, then there would be more children who would growth up feeling more secure and ready to do great things in their lives. Is also important that parents teach children values such as the love and respect for other people.
I hope that with the visit of the Pope we can began the conversation of how to help families who are in crisis so because every children deserves to have a stable family.
The Second presidential debate went really good for Senator Rand Paul. The debate lasted three hours and I believe that was good because candidates had more time to speak. The only problem was that the moderators did not asked excellent questions they wasted a lot of time asking personal questions of no interest to the public.
Most candidates were attacking Trump because in the three hours of the debate he keep saying things that did not had any sense. He acted as if nothing matters. He only emphasize what he has been saying throught the campaign, which is that he is going to create a wall in at the South border with Mexico, and that he is going to make this country great with the use of force and war. But he never proposed any real solutions to the problems of this country.
Jeb Bush and Donald Trump were the ones that had the most attention because they kept fighting with each other and Bush contradicted himself many times.
Rick Santorum was part of the first debate that took two hours and he did really well he looked very secure he answered really well. Another candidate that did really good was Carly Fiorina, she answered really well. I believe that her response to the legalization of marijuana was the best I have ever hear. She said that marijuana should be legal but that it should be treated as and addiction problem for those that suffer. She also proposed solutions to all the conflicts in the Middle East and spoke with clarity and confidence.
Rand Paul was another candidate that did excellent; he proposed great ideas he never contradicted himself and he defended the Constitution.
I believe that these three candidates Rand, Fiorina and Santorum did great in this debate. They were not the ones who spoke the most but they were the ones who spoke clear and who demonstrated why they deserve to be the next president of the United States.
The second presidential debate will be held in California today at the Ronald Reagan Library. It will be an exciting debate because the two stars will be Rand Paul and Donald Trump the two opposites. The first one is a real conservative and the other one a public figure with no ideas who is always switching sides.
Donald Trump has become popular for speaking against immigrants and for attacking others candidate’s stands on issues, but he has never offered any real solutions neither does he advocates for liberty or for a small limited government.
In contrast Rand Paul is a real conservative and the only real Republican that defends the ideas that founded this country and the civil rights of all the people.
The rest of the candidates are more likely to attack Donald Trump. It would also be great to hear Trump offer any real solutions for the first time, and to let the voters know why he is a “real conservative”. In this debate Rand will keep exposing Trump and proving that he is a fake conservative who buys and sells politicians.
In this second debate I hope to see that all candidates have the same time to speak and that not all questions are directly towards Trump and Bush.
I think that as Latinos in this country we should not only worry about the issue of immigration when elections come as we always do. When is election time we only support the candidate or party who promise us amnesty, as if amnesty is the only issue that matters. This is a big issue that has been going on for years and that is why we always end up choosing a person who is not qualified to run this country.
We should change that mentality and care about other issues, such as civil liberties, war on drugs, war in other countries ,the expansion of government, and also the war on religion because these issues are of interest to all of us not just to one group of people.
If we choose for president a person who supports abortion or who supports invading other countries but is in favor of amnesty we are in big trouble because we are choosing somebody who does not care about anyone, not even about fixing the problem of illegal immigration.
For this coming election we should think about a candidate that cares about people, everybody and doing good to others.
This link in here provides a great conversation about how Latinos don’t care about other issue and why we have to change that mentality.
The moderators of the Republican debate had really good questions; I believe these questions were of interest to the public. The only downside of this debate was that not all candidates got the same amount of time to speak. The two candidates that got the most time were Donald Trump and Jeb Bush.
The candidate that got the lowest amount of time to speak was Senator of Kentucky Rand Paul. This is something that damages the debate and it makes viewers to not take it seriously because in a real debate every person has to get the same amount of time so that people can have the opportunity to know more about the candidate they like.
It has been almost a week that this debate took place and it is not clear to the public who has won. The reason is because some spoke less time than others, but in my view the candidate who was able to respond to its opposition and also present with clarity his proposals was Senator Rand Paul.
Some claim that Senator Rand Paul was really aggressive because he was not being politically correct. In contrast, I believe that he was an excellent debater and that all should be like him. He was able to sell himself as someone different, someone who we can trust that he will follow the laws of this country, and someone who will do what he says.
If all candidates had gotten the same amount of time we could probably have a winner, and in my view it will have been Rand Paul.
The first presidential debate is taking place today, and it would be in the State of Ohio. In this first debate only the top ten candidates would be allowed to participate, something that I believe is not fair. I think everyone who is running for president of the United States should have the opportunity to speak.
In the past the public has not taken the political debate seriously because moderators did not make the right questions. Many times they ask questions about the personal life of the candidate and this makes candidates to not be taken seriously by the people. I believe the debate should last longer and moderators should ask important questions.
In this first presidential debate we are not going to see anything new. Most of the public is aware of where candidates stand on issues, such as immigration, health care, the terrorist group ISIS and Iran. There might be a Spanish speaking news moderator-asking candidate Donald Trump or Ted Cruz how they stand on immigration.
The candidate that I believe is going to have more media coverage is Donald Trump. He is a candidate that has a lot of attention because his not a career politician and because he is radical in his comments. But I really hope this debate turns out to be more serious than in the past years.
